Our Story

 

After an epiphany in 2016, we (a teacher gal and a finance guy) took the plunge to leave London in search of 'the good life'. Our journey began when we found the property of our dreams, Old Rectory House. A grand country house in a beautiful location with stunning views!

We moved three generations of the Scott family : ourselves, our two children Charlotte and Dotty, grandma Les and not forgetting our beloved cats. We set to work first on the 8 acre grounds, to establish a smallholding and we now have Herdwick sheep, rare breed pigs and a flock of free range chickens. Not content with all that extra work we have added another daughter, welcoming baby Minnie in 2018!

 

Our aspiration was to create a luxury farm stay where guests could enjoy the beautiful surroundings and our high welfare produce. First on the list were the dilapidated outbuildings which we lovingly renovated and completely transformed to create a stunning holiday cottage.  Then in 2021 we introduced two luxury shepherd huts to expand our accommodation offerings.

In 2023 we added a third shepherds hut and converted the cottage into a spa & wellness retreat. We made this change as we wanted our business to reflect our own personal wellness and sustainability journey. We have some exciting plans and will be organically growing the retreat side of the business over the next few years.
